"His Excellency the Governor notices with regret that the Major General Commanding raises an objection to the Road passing too close to the Magazine enclosure at its South West corner.

This objection if persisted in and upheld by the Home Authorities would be fatal to the construction of the road as the Surveyor General reports the engineering difficulties occasioned by carrying the road further South of the Magazine Enclosure than some 200 feet, as great as to be incompatible with the means of the Colony to overcome them.
